GroBoto currently offers simple .OBJ mesh output (each GroBoto primitive is output as a self contained mesh). This is fine for many purposes -- especially if your main goal is simply to incorporate GroBoto Models into your scene and render in another 3D application.
New Unified Mesh
Our new Unified Mesh export option produces high quality single-surface meshes (as .OBJ files).
These meshes are very well suited for manipulation in any subdivision modeling application. This turns GroBoto into an incredibly easy & flexible tool for creating subdivision base meshes.
Looking for Beta Testers
We will make this feature available to all of our registered GroBoto Artists in our first v3 Beta as soon as it’s ready.
We are also seeking 3D artists skilled in other 3D applications (ZBrush, Modo, Mudbox, etc.), that can help us refine our mesh output , and help us show the world what can be done with the GroBoto-to-Mesh workflow.
If you are interested, please email us here... and please include some links to your work.
10.25.09 Status
We had to step back a bit to rework a key component of mesh construction. First betas now look like they will go out in mid November.
You can see the results of some of our testing on Darrel’s ZBrush Thread.
