    Default modo user looking for Groboto tutorials

    I am a new user coming in from modo. While I understand that there are a few V. 3 tutorial videos on the website here and in the documentation, one of the things I enjoy about the modo community is that there are a lot of tutorial videos made available by the forum members, both for free and for sale, as well as several books that have been written by modo users. I have seen some mind-blowing images here on the forum, but as a new user, I have no idea how they were made. Is the Groboto community large enough that users have contributed tutorials to help us newbies begin to get some of the wonderful results that you old-timers are posting?

    Just wondering.

    Bob,

    We were not really encouraging creation of video tutorials beyond the few available on the site, because things were too fluid and videos would be getting outdated pretty soon. Now we reached the point, certainly with the main Groboto v3 line of boolean modeling and mesh creation, where we feel sure that thing have settled. Soon we'll have a good number of new videos showing how the process works in Groboto, starting from scratch and ending in exported mesh.

    Thanks, Boris, for your reply. I look forward to tutorials (since I am amazed by the images your artists are producing, but don't have a lot of time to sit down and work through everything from scratch). I am especially impressed with some of the more 'conceptual' pieces in the Graphic Design pages like the GeoPlasma series and others of that nature. I would love to know how to arrive at those kind of images.

    Some of us Groboto users feel as if they are a bit in limbo too. I'd certainly do some tutorials, but there are things that seriously need fixing , erm I mean things are 'too fluid' in Groboto's terms and it seems as if the team are not able to be responsive to posts here, due to their workload and hopefully a life in the real world.

    I think we are looking at the chicken/egg interface here. Team Groboto don't feel they can put the time and effort in to fix stuff right now, without a revenue stream coming in to fund it. Which in their terms means fixing it for MS Windows users' consumption. Yet those users will not be enticed to buy if they do not see a robust product in place.

    So from my point of view I see an innovative program, with many good features, which is maybe 98% of the way where it should be, struggling to finish off that last 2%. As many people know, that last 2% can be a real PITA.

    Myself, I sit on the fence and wait as I have been told that some issues are going to be fixed, real soon.

    Darrel and Boris, if you want to discuss progress privately, then I would be happy to comment privately, in confidence, but I don't think the forum is the correct place as perhaps some of my comments might be construed in a negative light and as the team knows, inherently I am a big fan.

    Or go out and buy an iMacPro, which is what I am thinking about doing, but I just know that, as soon as I go out and buy the iMacPro, Team Groboto will provide the Windows version that is somewhat comparable with the Mac version. Anyone want to contribute to my "Buy an iMacPro so I can run the Mac version of GROBOTO" program????? : )

    You can make such images by using Photoshop.
