win 2.94 64 load crash
I've had an intermittent fault with Groboto crashing when I load a gbr scene.
I have a scene loaded - save it - use the open dialogue to navigate to another file to load and the program falls over when I select the file I'm after.
It doesn't happen every time and it doesn't necessarily repeat when the same files are used.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour? (or is it a glitch with me or my computer!? )

Burnart,
Yes, we've seen a lot of this in earlier betas, and it was intermittent. With later betas I haven't seen it for quite a while. It would be helpful if you send this file to info@braid.com (the first one in the sequence - I don't think it matters which file you open later).
Thanks,
Boris

I'll see if I can get a reproduceable event happening. My memory is that it was crashing while I was looking at some of the sample secenes. I haven't really used it for at least 6 months so I've been re-aqainting myself with groboto via the latest beta and thought I'd start with the onboard stuff.

The page on the Win Beta says:
"If you experience a crash: Please save the Crash Log generated by the operating system. An option for saving that file appears in the System’s ‘Quit Unexpectedly’ dialog."
I don't know where this "Quit Unexpectedly" dialog is. I've run searches in the os help files and google without success. Sure that isn't a Mac/Linux instruction?
BTW not sure what I was up to the other night but last night Groboto crashed every time I wanted to load a new file. That is, I already had a file loaded and was trying to open a replacement file from the file menu. I can only guess that its trying to load the 2nd file over the top before it actually purges the first file - but I'm not a programmer so what do I know!?
I tried this on my old desktop with the 32bit version and on my laptop with the 64bit version. The crashing behaviour was the same on both.

I have continued to try and refine the problem and come up with this.
If I start up groboto and load a static scene (modify it or not and save it or not) then use the file menu to load another static scene there are no problems it loads fine. If I load a static scene and then load a morph scene there is no problem. If however I have a morph scene loaded then use the file menu to try to load either a static or morph scene the program crashes. I get a message on the screen saying Groboto has experienced an unexpected problem and has to close. This is repeatable on my desktop running XP home with the 32bit beta and on my laptop running Windows 7 and the 64bit beta. The behaviour is exactly the same.
I have also discovered that if I have a static scene loaded I can select a preset from the file menu no problem but if I have a morph scene loaded it crashes. When it crashes in this situation I get a detailed error message. (Boris - I'll send it to you in a pm). This crash behaviour is also repeatable and occurs on the desktop and laptop.
Edit: Boris, the pm system says the error message contains too many characters - is there an email address I can send it to?

Burnart,
Yes, this is it - morphing. I can reliably reproduce it when I select Presets after loading a file with a morph. It looks like this is all we need from you.
Thanks a lot!

Have you made sure you installed it as per instruction?
"Drag the Beta (or Beta64) to that folder (be careful not to drop it into any folder inside the Groboto folder!)."
I then put a shortcut from the beta exe in the beta folder onto my desktop and run from that. (By "that folder" it means the GroBoto folder in the Braid Art Labs folder in the Program Files if you have installed in the standard place. ie Should look like this c:\Program Files\Braid Art Labs\Groboto\Beta)

Diandra,
It worked for everybody else. Just follow the instructions here.
Cheers,
Boris
