Creating the mesh you have shown to fleetfoot may be more "difficult" in a polygonal/SDS modeling software, but would be very simple in most NURBS based software (and perfectly smooth, to...

I don't think you can adjust that in Groboto (at least not at this time). However, once you get the geometry in another application it should only take a few moments to straighten out all those edges.
Muha,
Gorboto cannot, at the moment, cut a partial hole in an object. I must cut all the way through the object. So your hyper-rod is doing exactly that (instead of stopping the cut in the...
I haven't tried that with the latest release, but with previous releases it would not let you install a newer version with the older one installed. It would warn you to uninstall first and then exit.
That sounds a bit overly complex for what it is: a simple list of all the things in your scene. Why not just have a list (as richardyot pointed out) like modo's menu list? The list could have the...
No problem. Ask and I'll help however I can. I am not a "spring chicken" myself, being 45 years old. ;) There is a lot of free software out there that comes very close to professional "big boy"...
Sorry, dude. Didn't mean to misquote. ;)
You see a gulf. I don't. I am a lone wolf (work for myself) and can't afford thousands and thousands for apps. Even so, I don't see this gap you are...
I don't know much about the humble beginnings of Groboto, so I cannot comment there. However, I don't see how the direction that Groboto is currently going is "filling a niche that is targeted by the...
I second all of these!
Import may not happen anytime soon. Groboto does not work with meshes, even though it can create and export them. And their Boolean system does not use meshes for adding, subtraction and union. We...
Yep. I agree. More visual ques in the view port. I get confused about which is X, Y and Z from time to time. And this is added to by the fact that some 3D applications use a different system (Y up, Z...
Thanks, Boris. I'll tinker with that later this evening when I get my "play time" with Groboto. ;)
I keep the modeling menu open to the Boolean tab. However, I did not see the duplicate listed there. However, when I delete a selected trim, the duplicate remains (or the original). So it was there.
I am learning Groboto and decided I wanted to start by creating a sci-fi type of gun. These initial screens are from the pistol grip that I put together. It has been quite a learning experience.

If you rotate the camera so that you are looking at the shadowy side of an object, THEN click the lock light to camera option, then the light will always be locked opposite the camera, thus leaving...
BTW - I know I can do this manually by creating a new cluster with the cylinder and then adding a new trim Boolean instead of duplicating the old one. But Darrel can do it in his video and so I would...
I am very excited about creating complex shapes in Groboto and then bringing them into modo for additional detailing. I have watched a few of Darrel's videos and I have to confess that I am not able...
I was watching the latest video that Darrel put out (HERE) and noticed that when he went to duplicate in place a trim, this is the dialog he got on his MAC version:

I find that each time I open Groboto I am having to spend time setting up Groboto the way I like it. For example, I like the Outline mode for shading while working. I also like to keep the Modeling...
Nope. They are not orthogonal at all. Instead, they are perspective views, but from different perspectives (top, right, left, bottom, etc). In other words, the camera is simply repositioned, but the...
From what I understand, we can create subtractive Booleans with any shape in Groboto. So I can add a cube, add a cylinder and then, by setting its Boolean properties, I can cause it to subtract from...
Actually, instead of adding more shapes, it would be nice to have more CONTROL over some shapes in order to create different shapes. For example, instead of possibly adding a pentagon, a hexagon,...
I would like to see the ability to load a 3D reference model to use somewhat like a backdrop image. This model would not be for manipulating, but for reference only. For example, let's say I would...
I was thinking about Groboto while on a long drive today and had an idea. I would like to see a layers section added to Groboto that is somewhat like what you find in Photoshop. I see this working...
The 64-bit version does indeed seem much speedier than the previous release. Thank you! :)
