Pendulum Elements


1. Flipper

Trigger this Flipper (see Using a Flipper, below) with the ‘1’ key to propel the two small balls towards the targets ([4] & [5]).


2. Ball Feeder

Two small balls [3] are repeatedly ‘served up’ in front of the Flipper by this device.


3. Balls

(Shown in flight) Hit these with the Flipper [1].


4. Target Pin

Hit this with the balls [3]. The goal is to knock it off-course so it  falls into the Moat [6].


5. Pendulum

Knock this swinging Pendulum off of its peg with the Balls [3].


6. Moat

When Targets [5] & [6] fall in here, you score points, and the Targets are reset.




Pendulum Game Play:

The goal is to hit the Balls [3], with the Flipper [1], knocking them towards the Targets [4] & [5]. You get a few points for hitting the Targets, but the big scores come when the Targets fall into the Moat [6].


Timing is everything — you must trigger the Flipper at just the right moment to hit the Targets. The Pendulum is the most valuable.




Tips:

  1. You can either hit the Balls as they fall, or wait until they bounce — both offer useful trajectories.

  2. You can recycle the Balls with the ‘Z’ key at any time, but note that this simply forces them to recycle immediately, interrupting their current motion.

Using a Flipper:

This Gizmo has one user-controlled Flipper, [1].


A Gizmo ‘Flipper’ is an object triggered by either clicking on it, or pressing its key (Gizmos use the number keys 1-9, we usually assign the ‘1’ key to the most important Flipper, and higher numbers to any additional Flippers). The motion of Flippers is predefined, so it’s all about timing (much like a pinball machine). For best results use the keyboard, it provides the most accurate timing.
